Swampspace is thrilled to host FAB 5 FIGS, a look back at five years of Raw Figs, the preeminent Figure drawing series in Miami-Dade. In the spirit of taking art to the streets, this vibrant community has coalesced in unexpected places from rooftops to restaurants, bookshops and museums. Balancing their drawing boards from the beaches to waist deep waters of The Everglades, they now take over our very own Swamp in the Design District. Join us for a series of weekly drawing events that culminate with a grand finale on May 1st. The exhibition will feature artwork produced on site along with select works from the archive of Raw Figs director Vida Sofia-memorable pieces of a journey greater than the sum of its parts.
About: Raw Fig Founded by Vida Sofia in 2020, Raw Figs sprouted as a sanctuary and a way to reconnect with her own drawing practice. It has blossomed into a strong community where anyone can explore their artistic potential. Events are donation-based to maintain accessibility and aim to push the boundaries of traditional figure drawing, both for artist and model.
